Do I have to use GS 38 fused test leads with my test instruments?
A

GS38 is a guidance document put out by the HSE and has been compiled from looking at a history of accidents with electrical test equipment. GS 38 calls for reduced metal tip exposure, figure guards and additional fuses in the test probes. However, modern test equipment that complies to BSEN 61557 has protection within them up to their quoted working range. At Kewtech we ship our latest products without fused test leads as our instruments comply with BSEN. 61557. Fused test lead options are available if required.
