Q
Be vigilant there are some dangerous IEC leads on the market
A

I have had a call from a concerned gentleman that a moulded IEC lead was failing the Earth Bond Test. Having heard that there are some dodgy Chinese IEC leads on the market I asked him to check to see whether the earth pin was sleeved in the same way as the live and neutral pins. It was!! The insulation on the earth pin cut the earth return path!! So the KT72 has taken an improper mains lead out of harm's way.

Q
My KT63 displayed EFLT when conducting a loop test on an earth spike in a TT System.
A

EFLT means earth fault, the resistance of the earth spike is too high. The earthing arrangement needs to be investigated for its high resistance. This was solved in a recent case by relocating the earth spike from a very dry and sandy location under trees to a position three feet away where a good lower resistance was obtained.

Q
We liked this one so much so we posted it verbatim: I have been looking after an 83 year old man's dogs, this is while he's in hospital and the darn mutts have chewed my Cat II meters leads and so I am having to replace them, you don't say what CAT level.
A

All our distribution board leads and probes are Cat III 600V. The probes have GS38 tips and finger guards and they also comply to the latest international standard IEC61010-31:2008. Fuse options are also available
