Kewtech wins highly acclaimed Innovation award

Kewtech's RB1 LED replacement voltage lamp has won the “Innovative commercial/industrial product of the year” at the 2011 Electrical industry awards last week. The team from Kewtech were there to proudly accept the award and to celebrate the recognition of this seemingly simple but highly effective product.

The RB1 acts as a more robust and safer replacement to the rough service lamps used in the Drummond test lamp. Used extensively in the utility industry these lamps use different colour LEDs to highlight voltage readings from 50V to 400V. Since its launch in May 2011 it has been adopted nationwide by several large utility companies.

Director Chris Holmes from Kewtech explains a little about the background of this product – “the idea for the RB1 came after hearing that customers could no longer source replacement tungsten filament lamps for their original Drummond. As we were already in the process of developing our new test lamp we fast-tracked the design and our first safer more accurate LED lamp was produced. A major UK utility company agreed to test the LED lamp and within three months took delivery of 4000 units”.

The RB1 is the latest in a series of simple, cost effective products produced by Kewtech with advantages aimed at the end user. Other products such as the lightmate kit – all five UK compatible testing connections in one Kit (ES, BC, SES, SBC and GU10) for a safe, speedy way to carry your R1+R2 and Loop test on a lighting circuit. The Pat Adaptor – this will turn any make and model of multifunction tester into a PAT tester.

Holmes added “the award is a great recognition to Kewtech's strive to supply innovative, accurate and reliable electrical testing equipment and accessories to the UK market. Enabling testing to be carried out faster, easier and above all safer”.
